Thank you so much L-J for your support along the way! One thing is for sure - the next one will not be during record breaking high temps. But then again ... you didn't bring the English rain!

Thanks Robyn! Jeff and I are already planning our next endeavour - which hopefully will not be during record high temps. Next trip, we'll definitely have much more time to get more sponsors and raise more money for WAB!

An Electric Endeavour from Tampa Bay to the Atlantic for What About Blue

Welcome aboard everyone - We invite you to follow our electric endeavour for Kevin's worthy cause. All proceeds from our sponsorship and donations will go directly to What About Blue.
Here's the plan:
On Tuesday June 16th, 2009 a 24’ Endeavour Electric Hybrid will set off for a eight day cruise departing from The Electric Marina Boat Rental at The Pier, St. Petersburg, FL on route to the Atlantic Ocean. The 250 mile journey will travel through Tampa Bay, Sarasota Bay, Charlotte Harbor, the Intercostal Waterway to Ft. Myers, across the state via the Caloosahatchee and Lake Okeechobee to Stuart, FL using less than $2 per day of electricity.

About an Endeavour Electric Hybrid:

This boat will not be altered nor enhanced to make this voyage; it’s a standard factory built vessel with a 13 hp D&D 48 volt DC motor, equipped with sixteen Trojan 105 lead acid batteries, two 25 amp onboard battery chargers and a 3.5 kw diesel MasterVolt generator. The vessel is also equipped with a private head and holding tank, freshwater sink and shower, refrigerator, full Eisenglass enclosure and a 16,000 BTU air conditioner. Cruising speed will be 5 mph with an estimated battery run of 8 to 10 hours without the use of the generator.

WE MADE IT!

Hi Everyone - my sincere apologies for not posting this sooner - but quite frankly I've been recovering from the trip and reorganizing all that I missed at both The Electric Marina and Endeavour Green while we were on the water road. Not to mention my cell phone crapped out during the big storm that moved in right after our final destination arrival. So sorry again and here's it is....

As we redirected our course to the rim canal, both Jeff and I felt the disappointment of not being able to cro… Continue

We just spotted our first glimpse of the Atlantic!

Hi everyone and yes this is our last day of our fabulous journey which will actually be 30 miles longer than we originally had figured when you take into account detours for press, rides for our guests and special visits along the way. I'll have an official total in my next blog entry.

I've taken photos and videos along the way and promise to post them all as soon as I have proper internet service since my wireless cards is really getting kinda tired. But what I'm going to do right now is not w… Continue

Cruisin' and Countin' Gators

June 22, 2009

Day 7 - and we did what we said we were going to do and that’s get an early start because today is a long day and the fourth and last large body of water to cover – unless when we get to Stuart we keep going and cross the Atlantic.

So we just left Roland and Maryann Martins famous fishing resort where we stayed the night. As I type, we’re entering Lake Okeechobee and 25 mile crossing. There’s about a 7 knot wind which makes in very comfortable temperature wise, however, the lake… Continue

Ditches and Locks today

June 21, 2009

Day 6 begins bright and early after a restful sleep at the River’s Side Motel. Jeff and I we’re already to go but before leaving we needed to do some filming and photographs but we had some technical problems -NOT WITH OUR BOAT, but with our video camera. The camera simply couldn’t handle the high humidity outside after spending the night in our cold air conditioned room. I’m very pleased and proud to report that we’ve not had one technical problem to deal with on our Endeavour Hy… Continue

Cruising the Okeechobee Waterway the Electric Way

June 20, 2009
Day 5 is starting out with a delay in departure because we’re having to wait until the Dockmaster’s office opens at 8AM. I forgot to inquire yesterday evening when we arrived at the Legacy Harbour Marina about a package I had arranged to be sent there containing an antenna booster for my wireless card. I believe it’s going to be a necessity as we begin our cruise through “the ditch” (a.k.a the Okeechobee waterway).

Well, I got the package from Verizon and was extremely disappointe… Continue

So very glad the first leg went "smoothly" - we were hit here with some intense weather- all the time wishing you were not in the midst of it.
Hope this second day provided sunshine, smiles and wonderful scenery along the way.

What a wonderful send off for Nancy and jeff this morning as they departed the Pier. Mayor Rick Baker gave them a fitting send off- well deserved for their contribution to our enviroment both through their design and production of electric and hybrid boats, but to the incredible charity What about Blue?
Best wishes to Nancy and Jeff for a safe, comfortable and joy filled trip across our wonderful state!
